Yesterday at mass in the glorious cragginess of St Peter’s Eastern Hill Church, I transcreated what I consider the archaic language of the first verse of Charles Wesley’s “O Thou Who Camest From Above” to become:
MIGHTY GOD DOWN FROM THE SKY
WITH HEAVENLY HEAT FOR US,
START A FIRE OF SACRED LOVE
TO PURIFY MY HEART.
Will anyone sing these words for me?
